GENETIC INFORMATION:
Recessive
FIRST FOUNDED:
Pete Kahl 1997
DESCRIPTION:
Pieds are one of the most impressive base morphs. They are always a crowd stopper at shows. They have a "pinto" effect and look as if they have been painted. They have large blotches of white scales that are randomly batched together through out the snakes body. The normal blotches are brighter then a "wild" ball python and the pattern is often altered into irregular stripes, this can be seen easier on a low white specimen. The amount of white can not be bred for, it is always a surprise when hatching pieds. Breeders use the term low white pied for an animal with less white blotching. The terms high white or a number with a % cam also be used to describe the amount of white an animal has. Two low white animals can produce high white animals just as two high whites can produce low whites.
OTHER NAMES:
Pied
CURRENTLY KNOWN CROSSES:
Pied mojave, pied cinnamon, pied super cinnamon, pied lesser, pied pastel, pied super pastel, pied ghost, pied super mojave, pied caramel albino, pied pinstripe, pied spider, pied bumble bee, pied killer bee, pied clown, pied black pastel
